Review: Tortaco (Dallas)

Tortaco located in the heart of downtown Dallas is one of Dallas' latest sensations. The feeling when you walk inside is like an upscale dive bar. The bar specializes in serving drinks made with mezcal. This gives their drinks a unique smokey flavor. At first glance at the descriptions of the drinks you might think, oh this isn't for me, but who knew that a drink made with bell peppers could actually taste good. I really enjoyed everything I tried and can't wait to explore more of the menu. If you know me, then you know service can make or break a place in my book. My waitress was great. She was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and her positive disposition made the night just that much better. Tortaco is great for people watching, getting together for a girl's or guy's night out, or stopping by to enjoy the happy hour.

Happy hour:

3-6 p.m. Enjoy their signature drink -- Stinky Inky for only $5 + $4 drafts and complimentary bites at the Dallas location.

The Floyd-This drink had a sweet and smokey flavor to it. It features bell peppers which were actually a welcomed surprise.

Roasted Crab Dip-This crab dip is served with fire roasted bread. I couldn't keep myself from stuffing my face with this creamy gooey crab filled dip. I can't wait to go back for more.

The Roasted Chicken Taco features pulled chicken breast and the freshest arugula. The aioli sauce adds just the right touch to the taco. The Fish Tempura taco features a light flaky tempura battered white fish.

All of the vegetables were very fresh and paired well with each other. This dish makes this a place that is perfect for vegetarians to enjoy with their meat loving friends/family.
