Teacher's Appreciation Week Deals

April 29, 2017

The time for celebrating the amazing teachers across our country is upon us. I am 5 1/2 weeks away from completing my 10th year as a teacher, and I must say that it has been an interesting ride. I have taught everything from 4th grade, 3rd grade, kindergarten and now Art. I've had to prepare students for state testing subjects, teach children who were just entering this new concept of school, teach students who don't speak any English and manage to teach 700 students a week. I must say that from all of my experience in teaching, switching to art has been the most difficult task of them all. Managing supplies for 700 students, figuring out how to store and organize projects, not having control of my own time since I'm the receiver of other classes, preparing for school and district shows and to be quite honest having to prove that I am a "real" teacher to those who don't see you as such. It's a pretty thankless job, but in the end seeing the difference you make in the lives of the children makes all of the hard times worth it. Nothing warms my heart more than hearing updates from my children's parents about the wonderful things they're doing now and even getting visits from former students. I'm sure you don't want to hear my whole soap box about how difficult teaching is. That's another topic for another blog post lol. So here we have it. A few deals I've seen and wanted to share with all of my teacher friends. Enjoy :-)! (Deals subject to participation. Please check with your local store to verify participation)
